Launched in 1958, Paris La Défense has been a living laboratory of technological, urban and architectural innovation for more than 50 years.

Today, the construction of new office towers demonstrates the architectural ambition of this business area to stay on top of the French economy and to become the indisputable reference for sustainable development.

Grande Arche
The visit starts at the foot of the Grande Arche de la Défense by Otto von Spreckelsen which symbolizes the end of the “grand axe parisien.”

tour Granite
The tour continues with a visit of the Tour Granit by Christian de Portzamparc. From the rotunde de La Défense we can trace the architecture from the 1960s to today.
We continue the visit with the presentation Tour First, the 1970s tower that was renovated according to the urban redevelopment plan of La Défense.

Notre Dame de la Pentecôte
We will also have a chance to visit the Franck Hammoutene’s church Notre Dame de la Pentecote as well as Coeur Défense, the very large building by Jean-Paul Viguier.

CNIT
We continue with a presentation of the CNIT by Bernard Zehrfuss, Robert Camelot and Jean de Mailly, the first building of La Défense. First built as an exhibition hall, it now houses the centre national d’industrie et de technologie.

CARPE DIEM
The visits ends witht the presentation of the new sustainable towers by Viguier and SRA architects.
